Thanks for checking in! After I escaped a super typhoon in the Philippines in 2013, my team and I spent a week in Manila, sort of in limbo. We didn’t have a project to go back to because the island was destroyed, and I couldn’t go home because my passport was lost (whoa, I just realized I’ve been an undocumented alien!) My friends back home asked how we were holding up. “We sleep when we can, cry when we must, and fill the gaps with buffalo wings.”
That’s what 2025 feels like. Resist when you can, rest when you must, and then wipe the buffalo sauce off your face and get back in the race. I’m glad you’re back, Josh. You’ve got a little shmutz right there…
Ahhh….a much needed dose of Joshua Johnson . I miss you on 1A, Night Light, and your amazing skill as seeing the world. Thanks much for your time and expertise, Joshua.
I loved reading this. And I know how you feel. All the change, and the uncertainty. I came to the U.S at 17 from Peru. I lost my father in 2003 and could not go, hardest thing in my 25 years here. Took me 18 to become a resident, 23 to become a citizen. And I thought I made it, but no, these 2 years as a citizen have brought more trials than the the others combined. But GOD protects and provides and I am still here, giving my best!
Truly nice to hear from you again. I feared you'd fallen off the earth - happy to know you didn't. And there's change in everyone's life - you to Chicago, single, journaling but not a journalist. I moved back to DC from Florida - just too embarrassed to continue saying I was a Floridian given its state government. I'm considering moving from the US as well, but at 80, that's a big haul. Just keep on keeping on........
Im cheering you on. I still miss hearing you every day on 1A.
Me too! Loved to listen to Joshua on 1A!!
I’m cheering you on, Josh. :-)

Woo-Hoo! You go Joshua! This is an excellent analogy of where we are.
