Joshua, you are a bright light amidst the darkness. Thank you for your insightful words and your sharp analysis. Keep on keeping on, and know that you’ve got many rooting for you. Excited to hear about your next adventures!
The most under the radar Joshua Johnson ready city in America is a place you might not have visited before...Columbia, SC. Dear Joshua consider teaching at the University of South Carolina it is the future :) Go Cocks!
Best of luck to you. I've been a big fan since 1A and I was wondering what you were up to. Like many people, I've been in complete burnout/avoidance mode of anything news or political related since the election but now starting to keep up again, even as depressing as it is. Happy to hear that you are starting a new endeavor and that you and your partner are giving Chicago a try. My husband and I love visiting there in the summer.
I’ve been wondering about you. And here you are, doing what I thought you would be great at from the first - being in a University setting, connecting with students & staff/faculty/etc. Crazy how I have carried that idea for the past 2 years & here it is.
You deserve a live “audience” or interaction on the daily.
Welcome to Chicago! (And yes, I'm a Maroon.) So happy to hear of your new plans, and I'll make the move to the other platforms to follow you on social media. Best wishes, and we are ALL rooting for you and what you bring to the world!!
I was happy to support you on your journey, and honored to be brought along for some of it. I know you’ll kick so much booty in this next chapter. And I hope to stay in parasocial contact.
Thanks, I will miss your cool logic and your patient explanation of what was going on in our government and the world. Take wing in your new endeavors.
Good luck, Joshua. I am 50, and I still haven’t figured out what I want to be when I grow up, either. There’s nothing wrong with that. And having to apply for a job isn’t a sign of failure. It is hard running your own business, and sometimes it doesn’t work out. I lost my business when I was 37 and I swore the world was ending and that my wife and children were going to blame me for upending our lives and hate me forever. So when I shut the company down having run out of every last dollar I had, and then filed bankruptcy, and then couldn’t get a job to save my life until I accepted a position making $50k (this was in 2012–which was how much I got paid at my first job out of college in 2000–it was awful. Actually felt worse than I ever imagined it could. But you know what? The good times don’t last forever, and neither do the bad. My wife and children still loved me and helped me through a very lonely and demoralizing period of my professional life. And over the course of the next 8 years, I got back on my feet, got the family into a new house, made enough money to get both of my daughters a couple of cheap cars of their own, and got a good start on rebuilding our retirement savings.
You will be amazed at how far from your low point you will be in ten years, even if Chicago isn’t the perfect spot (although I hope it is).
Thank you for your honesty and your transparency. I have always liked you, even though I resented you for replacing Diane Rehm all those years ago. I wish you the best, and I hope you are able to find everything in life that you are looking for.

Good luck in Chicago! I’ve gotta say that I’m still a 1A listener, but I miss the way you did the show all of the time!
