Episode 17: Moderating Our Debates About Israel

We’re all struggling to talk about what’s happening in Israel, especially on college campuses. Universities are having a tough time guiding students and faculty through this amazingly intricate issue… but I believe these schools also have what they need to do this right.

The University of California released a strongly worded statement after Hamas attacked Israel. That led to a strongly worded statement from a faculty group, urging solidarity with Palestinians. And that led to… yep, you guessed it… from a University Regent who pushed back hard. This is going nowhere, but it does not have to keep getting worse. In my view, many universities are uniquely capable of handling these debates… if they let the right people do the talking.
